Which Shadows Over Innistrad Blue cards will be best for you during the prerelease?
Shadows Over Innistrad is coming soon and if you are going to be playing in the prerelease, here’s a few things you need to know.
If you haven’t watched my thoughts on the Shadows Over Innistrad White cards you can see that here:
So what common and uncommon cards are best in blue?
Compelling Deterrence – A 2 drop to bounce a card to their owners hand at instant speed. Yeah. That’s pretty awesome value there. And then if you have zombies you force them to discard a card. All the better.
Furtive Humuncolous – 2 for a 2/1 isn’t too bad, but with the new skulk mechanic this makes this a reasonably good card.
Just the Wind – This may look like just a good card to return a target creature to their owners hand for 2, but the Madness ability makes this casting cost insane.
Niblis of Dusk – 3 for a 2/1 flyer with prowess…. need I say more? And he’s common??? Or is it a she? Hmmmm.
Stitchwing Skaab – We all love flyers and this guy will just keep coming back for more punishment and further annoy your opponent.
And Stormrider Spirit – He’s a good solid card. 5 for a 3/3 flyer with Flash. I wouldn’t fill my deck with him, but having 1 or 2 is a great idea.
And the flippy Uninvited Geist (I know they call them double faced, but I like the term flippy) This is solidly annoying. A 2/2 with skulk that turns into a 3/3 unblockable. Annoying, annoying annoying!
Those are my top picks for blue commons and uncommons, but you need to know what blue rare you should stay away from? Blue is really tricky because I can see all of the blue rares being very playable in limited. My only concern is that Confirm Suspicions is too high of a cost to counter a target spell, especially when Broken Concentration costs much less. I don’t think that getting 3 clues will be that good of a tradeoff for the added cost.
What do you think? What are you most looking forward to in Shadows Over Innistrad blue cards?
